Armed Forces W/E

WW2 Re-enactment South West will be attending this weekend bringing their period displays. 

 

 

 

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY (Saturday 30th June 2012 to Sunday 1 July 2012

Civilians and soldiers in period uniform displaying weapons and kit. 

There will be a daily weapon display at 1200 (TBC).  (Including 303, Sten gun, Mosin Nagant) Battledress and Bayonet will be in attendance with sales of period clothing and equipment.

Other displays will include:

Soldiers: Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry, Women's Airforce Service Pilot, Red Army, US 29th Infantry Division, 114 Jager, 16th LFD, 5. Kompanie , 916. Grenadier Regiment , 352. Infanterie Division, 101st Airborne, Southwest Combined Services Military Police Living History Group.

Vehicles: Red Army Gaz 67b, Royal Enfield WDCO, Willys Jeep, To be confirmed - a full size Goliath Tank (a remote controlled German-engineered demolition vehicle) as used by Germany during WW2.  You have probably never seen one of these because only the Bovington Tank museum has the other one.  A video of one of these can be seen below: 

 

 

Aircraft: Fairey Gannet XG831 - ECM.6

SUNDAY ONLY

Camelford Branch of the Royal British Legion. will hold an Armed Forces Day parade at the musum.

 

PARADE TIMETABLE - TBC

1330 - All participants on site. The Cornwall ATC Corps of Drums and Camelford Junior Band will be in attendance and playing. 

1400 - March past, Wreath laying, inspection by a VIP (approx 30 minutes total)

On completion -   Light refreshments available at modest cost.  

Museum free to Veterans wearing Vets / RBL badge, Serving military and cadets in uniform also get in free and participants in parade.  Normal admission fee to others.
